On Tuesday, August 2, 2005 TsegBall joined hands with the Washington, D.C. Police Department to promote public safety and community togetherness at the 22nd Annual National Night Out" (NNO), a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch. The program is designed to h eighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs and strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships.
Over a thousand people from the D.C. area, including Mayor Anthony Williams and Police Chief Charles H. Ramsey, met at the Rudolph Elementary Schoolne of the seven sites for this free community event. TsegBall was the only game introduced that evening and it was a big hit, especially with the children. They quickly picked up on the rules of the game and had a blast!
TsegBall inventor and President, Sebastian Bruce was particularly struck with how many of the children were interested in learning how he developed the sport. He t alked with the kids about channeling their energies into positive directions so that they could possibly come up with future inventions of their own. He also talked about the importance of staying in school and staying motivated academically.
One of the event organizers, Officer Hopkins said, "The kids love it. This is a fun game. I've never seen anything like this before." TsegBall's unique non-contact format allows both boys and girls to play together and is ideal for Boy's and Girl's Clubs as well as Youth and Recreation Centers.
