TsegBall Makes A Difference At MAHPERD
On October 21 st , Physical Educators from all across the state of Maryland had a chance to learn more about TsegBall at the annual MAHPERD Convention in Edgewater, MD. MAHPERD (the Maryland Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance) held this year's convention in the South River Educational Complex in Anne Arundel County. Hundreds of vendors and educators attended to share ideas and learn about the latest developments in the world of athletics, health and the arts.
This year's theme, " M ake A Difference In H ealth, P hysical E ducation, R ecreation And D ance," was an extension of the MAHPERD mission statement which expresses its commitment to "the development of knowledge and programs that foster active and healthy lifestyles and to the enhancement of aesthetic motor performance."
TsegBall Inventor Sebastian Bruce spoke with numerous individuals about the health and social benefits of TsegBall, while TsegBall Instructors Trish and Keisia Thorpe demonstrated how TsegBall could enhance their current athletic programs and increase their ability to "make a difference." TsegBall particularly drew a large amount of interest due to the fact that it was the only new sport introduced at the convention.
Besides meeting lots of new people, the group also saw a few familiar faces. Linda Kephart, Supervisor of Health and Elementary Physical Education in Carroll County Public Schools. Sandra Surf Laurel High School
stopped by to share how thrilled she was with the way teachers have incorporated TsegBall into the athletics curriculum. Students seem to be enjoying the challenge of a new sport and the teachers are pleased with the student involvement. Students are strengthening their skills, working together and staying active.
It's always great to hear how TsegBall has made a difference. |
